The wild boar (Sus scrofa) was a species of suid found in much of Eurasia, Africa, and the Americas during the Human era. A very succesful species, they survived the Human era mass extinction, and by 5 million AD, a population has become stranded on karst plateaus in the Mediterranean Salt Flats, giving rise to a new, more gracile species, the scrofa.
