Tundra flies are flies native to the tundras of western Europe in 5 million AD. Their life cycle is incredibly accelerated compared to that of modern flies: they hatch, reproduce, and die in a very short period of time during the brief summer thaw. They provide food for a variety of migratory birds which also arrive on the tundra during the spring and summer.[1]
