Scared Safe is the 20th (chronologically 20th) episode of The Future is Wild (animated series).

Synopsis[]

After an accident on a glacier 5 million years in the future, C.G. becomes overly protective of the crew. Also, a curious gannetwhale named Tooby investigates the Time Flyer and gets himself, Emily, Ethan, Luis and Squibbon cornered by a snowstalker.

Plot[]

In future-France of 5-million AD, the group arrive at the request of C.G.'s father, though C.G. herself grows annoyed thinking her father doesn't trust her, just as the ship suddenly drops out of the air like a rock and crashes at a cliff, which turns out to be the end of a glacier. The gang split in same-gender-pairs to collect soil and ice-samples, but they don't know the glacier is unstable.

At a nearby beach rest a flock of gannetwhales. One juvenile named Tooby gets irritated at his mother's overprotectiveness and becomes slightly rebellious. Meanwhile for the boys, they start drilling into the glacier they're on, but then Luis finds melt-water puddles and soon enough the landscape rumbles. The girls come to a beach, which was once underwater but has been exposed from the dropping sea-level. Emily also spots Tooby with two other juvenile gannetwhales, but a part of the glacier breaks off. The girls rush over to find the time-flyer and boys, but they actually escaped (Ethan was piloting the time-flyer) and their actions catch the attention of Tooby, who goes after the ship to check it out. What he doesn't know is that a snowstalker is nearby and is on the prowl.

The boys manage to land (poorly) the time-flyer onto more stable ground, but C.G. feels responsible for the incident and becomes overprotective of her friends (and even her father thinks she's taking it too hard). She then dresses herself and her friends in life-jackets and helmets with sirens taped on them and runs a fake drill as a test, though unfortunately, the sounds catch the snowstalker's attention, who manages to sneak up on C.G. undetected while she runs a test on the communicators, and she only survives by turning on her siren. Tooby, satisfied with his curiosity decides to leave, but sees the snowstalker and is forced to hide.

C.G. then introduces an invention: the portable-safety-kit, but Ethan and Luis start to get rebellious and the second she leaves they sneak out. Squibby also has had enough and gets out the time-flyer with Emily chasing, but their antics alert the snowstalker. When C.G. sees the boys have flown the coop, she demands them to return, but they instead pull a prank on her (much to her anger). Emily, Squibby and Tooby unfortunately are in real trouble, but C.G. assumes they too are joking until Luis responds with seriousness. C.G. attempts to rescue, but accidentally traps herself in some kind of foam. Ethan and Luis arrive in the nick of time, but almost crash into a rock and lose control. All would've been lost had it not been for Tooby's mother showing up and unleashing her vomit-attack (accidentally splashing it on the humans too), driving the saber-toothed-wolverine away.

Tooby and his mom make amends and they go off fishing together, at the same time C.G. apologizes for her overprotectiveness and the boys free her from her foam-predicament, seeing they're not helpless, but she does want to be away from them since they're still covered in gannetwhale-vomit and stink because of it. So, Ethan, Luis and Emily struggled to get into the shower before the other.
